Announces a Continuing Education Workshop by:

This professional ethics and minimum technical standards workshop meets the
requirement of 23 CSR-2-3.2 which requires that all licensees obtain a minimum of
2 PDH’S in each discipline in Board approved courses or activities every 4 years.

Registration: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m
(Beverages and snacks will be available throughout the day)

8 a.m. to 12 noon - Minimum Technical Standards
Review the laws and regulations governing the practice of land surveying in West Virginia to include an in-depth discussion of the minimum standards for boundary surveys.

Noon to 1 p.m. – Lunch on your own

1 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Professional Ethics for Surveyors
This session will define the attributes of a professional surveyor and discuss the surveyor’s obligations to his client, the public, and the profession; and will propose a professional code of conduct. It will also review the Board’s legislative rules and discuss ethical considerations in the boundary surveying process.

Cost of seminar: $125.00

Note: Attendees must sign in at the registration desk upon arrival for the morning session and again following lunch. Certificates for 8 PDHs will be presented at 5 p.m. to those who have signed in and attended both sessions.

Your registration must be received no later than April 30. Walk-ins and payments at the door are discouraged since sufficient reference material may not be available. Cancellations will be accepted until May 3, 2010; thereafter, registration fee will be forfeited.

Dr. Knud E. Hermansen is an attorney, professional engineer, and professional land surveyor licensed in several states, including West Virginia. His education includes a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. (Doctorate in Law) from West Virginia University. Currently, Knud is a Professor at the University of Maine and operates a consulting firm offering surveying, engineering, and legal services. Professional memberships include the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, National Society of Civil Engineers, National Lawyers Association, and several state survey societies and bar associations. He is an author of the books titled: Boundary Principles and Procedures for Pennsylvania and Handbook of Annotated Forms for the Surveying Practice.
